Our principles
- Zero waste: 90% of our expenditure goes on tuition fees (paying
our teachers), 7% on supplies (stationery and calculators for the
students) and 3% on bank charges. We have no full-time
administration, so avoid overhead costs altogether.
- Accountability: We maintain detailed audit records including logs
of lessons our teachers give. Our charity has an annual Examiners
Report (audit) prepared by a firm of accountants in the Isle of
Man.
- High standard of education: Our maths lessons are at a level that
would be recognised internationally. We do not support the simpler
'Maths Literacy' course offered in many South African schools. Many
of our students have low self-esteem and little faith in the state
education system. We actively encourage them to stay in full-time
education.
